Sweet Bean and SoBern Journey

Sweet Bean hand-painted filled chocolates Program: A Tasting and Pairing from Sweet Bean and SoBern Journey

Program Description: Join us at Dame Kristen Barnes shop Sweet Bean for an evening of five paired chocolates with non-alcoholic wine and mocktails from SoBern Journey, a popup bar in Cleveland. We will hear from Kristen about the journey of chocolate from bean to bar and how Sweet Bean came to life. SoBern owner Katie Perdue will also speak about her concept in this widely expanding space. There will be additional mocktails available for purchase, as well as bonbons!

Location: Sweet Bean | 819 E 185th St Cleveland, OH 44119.
Parking is available in the Lasalle parking lot.

Cost: Members $25 / Guests $30 / Limit: 15

LDEI Pitch Competition at The NUFM Garlic Festival

LDEI Pitch Competition

Les Dames d ’Escoffier International (LDEI) Cleveland Chapter is holding a business pitch competition for female entrepreneurs in the food, beverage, or hospitality industries operating in Northeast Ohio. Both women-owned start-up businesses and established businesses are eligible to apply. Only non-members of LDEI may apply (although we would love to have you apply to join LDEI, if eligible, after the competition is over!).

If you are selected as a finalist, you will make an in-person, 15-minute pitch to our judges at the Cleveland Garlic Festival in Shaker Square on Saturday, August 24th, 2024 at 4:00 pm where winners will be selected.

Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st ($3,000) 2nd ($2,000) and 3rd ($1,000) place winners. and all finalists will also receive an opportunity to promote their products and services at a North Union Farmer’s Market booth on either 8/3, 8/10 or 8/17, sponsored by the USDA.

  • Completed and Signed Application Form (download below)
  • A copy of your business’s Vendor’s License
  • A copy of your business’s W-9

The deadline for application submissions is July 20, 2024.
You will be notified no later than August 1, 2024 of the results of your application or finalist selection.

About LDEI: We are a philanthropic organization of women leaders in the food, beverage, and hospitality industries. Our membership is highly diversified (with 2,400 members in 44 chapters across the USA, Canada, UK, Mexico, France, and Italy) and reflects the fields of contemporary gastronomy and hospitality. We support our communities through grants, scholarships, and mentorship. Prospective members must have at least five years of relevant industry experience to apply to become a Dame.
